How to Download WordPress Offline on XAMPP
XAMPP is a popular platform for web development that allows you to run a web server on your local computer. It is widely used by developers and designers to host and test their websites, web applications, and databases offline. In this article, we will guide you on how to download WordPress offline on XAMPP.
Step 1: Download and Install XAMPP
Before we can begin the process of downloading WordPress offline on XAMPP, we need to first download and install XAMPP software. You can download the latest version of XAMPP from the official website. Once you have downloaded it, follow the installation instructions to install it on your computer.
Step 2: Download WordPress
The next step is to download WordPress. You can download the latest version of WordPress from the WordPress official website. Once you have downloaded WordPress, extract the files to a folder on your computer.
Step 3: Move WordPress to the XAMPP htdocs Folder
Open the XAMPP control panel, and start the Apache and MySQL services. This will allow you to run a web server on your local computer. Now, find the htdocs folder in your XAMPP installation directory. This is where you will move the WordPress files.
Open the folder where you extracted the WordPress files in step 2. Copy all the files and folders to the htdocs folder. This will make WordPress available on your XAMPP web server.
Step 4: Create a Database for WordPress
Open your web browser, and go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin. This will take you to the phpMyAdmin interface, where you can manage your MySQL databases. Click on the "New" button, and create a new database for WordPress.
Step 5: Configure the WordPress Database
Once you have created a new database, you need to configure WordPress to use this database. Open the wp-config-sample.php file in the WordPress folder, and rename it to wp-config.php.
Open the wp-config.php file in a text editor, and find the following lines:
define( 'DB_NAME', 'database_name_here' );
define( 'DB_USER', 'username_here' );
define( 'DB_PASSWORD', 'password_here' );
define( 'DB_HOST', 'localhost' );
Replace the 'databasenamehere', 'usernamehere', and 'passwordhere' placeholders with the name of the database you created earlier, the username, and the password for the database. Leave the DB_HOST value as "localhost".
Save and close the wp-config.php file.
Step 6: Install WordPress
Navigate to http://localhost/wordpress in your web browser. This will open the WordPress installation wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. When prompted, enter the database name, username, and password you configured in step 5.
Once the installation is complete, you can log in to the WordPress dashboard by going to http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin.
Congratulations! You have successfully downloaded and installed WordPress offline on XAMPP. You can now use it to develop and test your WordPress website or web application on your local computer.
